History:
In 1998, Peterson Insurance Services, Inc. opened its doors with one simple goal: to go above and beyond the ordinary insurance experience, building relationships one client at a time. Susie Peterson, principal agent and founder of Peterson Insurance, literally invited clients into her home in Havertown, conducting business from a small dining room table passed down from her grandmother.

The intimate and relaxed atmosphere of the Peterson dining room allowed clients to open up about their lives and businesses, enabling Susie to identity the things which they held most dear. By establishing a relationship first, Susie was able to share her insurance knowledge in a way that would best serve her clients’ interests.

Peterson Insurance is still a family-owned and operated business which retains its core values: trust and knowledge. The company is led by principal agents Charles and Susan Peterson, both of whom entered the insurance business after retiring from a combined 30+ years of service to the Pennsylvania public education system. Charlie served as a business administrator for several Pa. school districts while Susie devoted herself to teaching as a reading specialist, theater, and English teacher.

Charlie and Susie’s commitment to education is a reflection of their life’s work, which carry together into the insurance industry. He earned his B.A. in Natural Sciences & Mathematics from Edinboro University and his M.B.A. from Clarion University. She earned her B.S. in Communication Arts and her Masters Degree in Education from Clarion University. Both are designated Certified Professional Insurance Agents, and Susie also holds her Certified Insurance Service Representative designation.

The Peterson’s experience in education prepared them for the constant winds of change in insurance, as they actively seek out the latest in industry changes and products. Charlie often says that with insurance, “Preparation is paramount.” By preparing themselves and their employees, the Peterson’s goal is to empower all Peterson Insurance policyholders with the confidence that comes with knowing they are protected. The Petersons and their employees at Peterson Insurance do their homework, so that you don’t have to do yours. It’s simply a matter of doing things the right way.

Recently, Charlie shared his marketing knowledge with other agents along the East Coast of the United States as a presenter during the 2009 Erie Insurance Marketing Road Show. The Peterson’s believe in giving back, that’s why Peterson Insurance actively supports local youth educational and sports programs, including the Haverford Education Foundation, Highland Park Kirklyn Athletic Association, and Haverford Youth Football, Haverford Township Education Foundation’s Twilight 5K Run.
